This volume is a thorough and well structured study of political finance, election campaign and party funding issues in Central and Eastern Europe. These democracies are all in transition and the absence of the stability of accountability and transparency in practices of political party financing is a characteristic feature associated with their post-communist period. This volume: covers eleven Central and Eastern European countries over the period of democratic transition; outlines best practices for political party and election campaign financing; and, highlights the shortcomings of political funding schemes and the scandals that emerge under investigation. In sum this study analyzes how current regulations of political finance succeed in controlling the rise of political corruption.
