Book One in a series that aims to provide insights into the way a corpus can be used, the type of findings that can be obtained, and the possible applications of these findings, as well as the theoretical changes that corpus work can bring into linguistics language engineering. This text seeks to demonstrate that corpora can be used for semi-automatic terminography. Meta-language patterns are a common feature of certain types of specialized text and frequently offer clues to the meaning sof the terms to which they refer. This book describes a methodology for retrieving and manipulating these metalanguage patterns so that they can be used in the formulation of terminological definitions.
