Put together by the Statistics Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the Yearbook collects national demographic statistics provided by national authorities of 230 countries in the world. It includes statistics on size, distribution, and trends in national populations; natality, fetal mortality, infant and maternal mortality, general mortality, nuptiality, and divorce. Where possible, data is shown by urban/rural residence. The volume also provides technical notes on how to use the data, a cumulative index, and a listing of the issues of the Yearbook published to date. All textual information is presented in both English and French.
