Nancy Cartwright's Philosophy of Science (Routledge Studies in the Philosophy of Science)
Stephan Hartmann, Luc Bovens, Carl Hoefer
Excellent introductory chapter with overview of Cartwright's works in philosophy of science and economics. A collection of papers from a workshop in Germany, the philosophy professors presenting the papers are from continental Europe, UK, Canada, and USA so there is a wider range of views than has been usual in philosophy. Cartwright gives a written response to each paper, which begins with a few sentence summary of the paper, before presenting her views. Some papers disagree with her. One can learn a lot by reading only the introduction chapter plus her responses if you lack time to read the entire book. For me this book is well worth its high price.
