This book astonishes me: it's full of maps that are extremely well drawn, graphically engaging, and full of interesting anecdotes and helpful information. I point out that it is 'full of maps' and you might wonder why that needs to be said: not every atlas I've purchased has had exhaustive maps (as per National Geographic Atlas of History, what a disappointment). This book has a bit of written text, but is overwhelmingly devoted to maps of all sorts.



Those are just the maps: this great resource also contains organizational charts, line drawings of tanks, ships, field artillery, howitzers, and more besides. It's well bound and printed on durable, heavy paper. All of this for $14? Unbelievable. Five out of five.
