Every Second CountsLance Armstrong, Sally Jenkins, Donna SinisgalliThe book "Every Second Counts" is a good book for someone who is looking for Lance's view on his cycling career and his person life with family and friends.
I chose this book because of the previous book I read "Its not about the bike" I liked how Lance explained his life outside of racing and the importance of family and friends. Also I read reviews and small summaries that explained his view about races and the world of cycling. I felt like hear his opinions about racing and family would give a ma better a idea about who he was (and it did). Overall it was combination of Lance's view of his personal and his cycling career that influenced me to choose this book. Lance's uses his personal experiences to influence the reader with his thoughts about teammates, opponents, and the cycling union. When reading this book the reader should remember that all the statements are his and take note on broad opinions involving other people. It is possible, that the way this book was written that the reader may forget that it is a auto-biography. He also influences his readers with his thoughts about races and competitions, voicing his opinion on some of the outcomes. In the broad scope of things the reader must realize that this is a auto-biography and all the thoughts presented will be bias to an extent, that part is inevitable. When it comes to the validity with what Lance says the reader must realize that it is hard to challenge what he is saying because it is coming from Lance himself. Likewise the only thing that could be challenged is opinions and facts that are made by him. I felt that what Lance said about the majority of his races and the cycling union was right on but it simply my view. He as the background and experience to write about all the events in this book just from the simple fact he was a major part of all of them. I feel that his authority in writing was very accurate. The reviews of these books were spot on in explaining the background and what the book will be about. However I think reviews should stress that a lot of this book has to do with his personal life and holds thoughts about who is beyond cancer. A lot of the reviews neglected to mention that part of the story. I felt again the reviews were very wrapped up in the racing aspect and did not remind readers abut the personal life that Lance talks about in this book and is expressed throughout the book. Overall I would suggest this book to anyone who wants to get to know Lance for who he is beyond the bike and into his true feelings about family. This book will give a good inside look at racing but also of a husband and father.
