Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 10)

I had such great expectations for this book, but it was more than just disappointing. It had a good start, but (with the preview of the appearance of Eric's maker) I was hoping to see more of Eric's past and a real developing of his and Sokkie's relationship; instead, all I got was a so boring kid in Macdonald's, a not amusing plot revolving around fairies and a pathetic conclusion to crown it all.

In past books I tried to overlook irregularities like a one thousand years old vampire nocked out with a stone in the head, or captured by two punks and a web (wasn't Eric a great warrior?), etc. But now Harris blowed it with her intrusive plot of this ex-hemophiliac-russian-royalty who (by the power of the author's whim) steal pages that could have served to tell something very interesting and, oh the pain!, almost kills or beats to a pulp half the cast (including the alleged so powerful and old vampires).

Not to mention that Sookie's character is a little off, hesitant, suddenly agressive and... generally weird. And it gets unreal (and not amusing anymore) how the plain Jane manages to stay alive with so many supernatural attemps on her life and no good explanation, just more whims to save the plot.

So, bottom line, I didn't like it, and I have poor hopes for the next book if this was a preview of the end of the series.
