Capitalism: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)
James Fulcher
This VSI on Capitalism is the first book from this very popular series that I've ever read. It provides general and very important information on the the origins of capitalism, and the various forms that capitalism can take. The writer is critical of capitalism, however, he is not propagating against it, but rather tries to highlight to the reader the economic and social consequences of the capitalist economic system. Such criticism is always welcome.
As an introduction, I found the book to be very helpful and useful, but without a general knowledge of Economics, I believe that the casual reader would have problems understanding this particular book.
I suggest this book to anyone interested in capitalism, but be aware that it is not as introductory as one may expect. Also, this is a great book for anyone who wants to have a short and general summary on capitalism.
