iPhone and iPad Apps for Absolute Beginners (Getting Started)
Rory Lewis
I recently found this book as a great iPad reference. Most iPhone veterans share a common problem: they must give up the idea that they will ever comprehend all the material Cocoa Touch and iOS put in front of them. Designing for the iPad adds another element: a bigger screen that no longer has to be as modal as the iPhone. Becoming aware of the 'master-detail' philosophy on the iPad that it gets from Cocoa makes the designer think twice about just doing another build and release. Overall, this is a good synthesis of concepts available in all of iOS that even the expert reader will find a couple gems buried within. We all learn to accept that when something is labeled as being for beginners, that we are all beginners, to some degree when the idea space is so large.
