Complete Photoshop CS3 for Digital Photographers
Colin Smith, Tim Cooper
There are plenty of Photoshop books out there, but this is the first one I've seen that tells me exactly what I need to know and do to get the results I'm looking for. As an intermediate user of Photoshop, I've found this to be a wonderful resource for helping resolve specific problems quickly and efficiently without having to master the entire program at once.
The index is thorough and logical, so it's easy to get to the technique or solution you're looking for. The precise, step-by-step directions are clear and easy to follow, even when it requires working with a feature you're unfamiliar with, yet it doesn't dumb it down enough to annoy more advanced users.
This is one of those books that should be close to your computer at all times. An excellent resource and reference.
