When I first read The 12 Factors of Business Success I was still running my Group Coaching practice. I
was instantly struck by how it could significantly help Executives in all aspects of their lives - please
do not let the book title dissuade you. I was so enamoured with the lessons in 12 Factors that I
started recommending it in place of Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People - the 12
Factors can be applied in all aspects of our lives to make a profound difference.
The authors are all High Achievers in there respective fields and the lessons covered in 12 Factors are
deep rooted in first hand experiences, ancient wisdom, and positive psychology (which incidentally
also has its foundation in Aristotelian and Stoic teachings). 12 Factors aims to wake us out of a
slumber of mediocrity and show us that if we sincerely want something, the potential to bring it into
reality already exists within us, as Thomas Edison stated "If we did all the things we are capable of
doing, we would literally astound ourselves." So how do we "astound ourselves?" The authors
remind us that it's our `daily habits' that need to change to get different results.
The authors repeatedly show throughout 12 Factors that "You become your behavior not your
intentions and by doing so become not only a better human being but a higher achiever."
