I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this book as it was thicker than expected, and contains some very useful information.

The author seems to have done a good job at explaining these subjects to me. In the chapters about Audio and Video it was very useful to learn about the correct file types to use, compression of these and about podcasting.



I think this book is aimed at those who are new to building their own web projects with joomla, which is why it has been useful to me. It has to (and does) touch on how to use basic operations within joomla such as "how to use the media manager", "how to upload images via joomla and FTP", but mostly it is a guide on multimedia and so a basic understanding of the joomla is important to really benefit from this book.

I do wish some of the chapters went into more detail about the subjects as I was really enjoying them and wanted to learn more. I guess in fairness to the book, complete books are written alone about these subjects. It was nice to see the author included information about twitter, facebook and how joomla interacts with these. It is important for marketing my site now.



If you have a joomla site and want to know how to add images, audio, video and other media the correct way to your website then this is a good book to read. I will buy another packt joomla book.
