The Digital Photography Book
Scott Kelby
After purchasing a high-end digital SLR I wanted to get advice from pros so I would not be frustrated or disappointed. This was the first book I bought on topic, and will quickly go to the donation bin and another book will take its place.
The author includes a few good hints, but nothing that really shows what you can do with even basic digital cameras. There are some situation recipes, but nothing satisfying about the exposure triangle - what I believe to be the real key to satisfying photography. The interspersed nuggets of wisdom are embedded in a writing style and humor that was offputting, so it left me feeling that I hadn't gotten a return on this purchase.
I just read the back cover and it clearly says "User Level: Beginner" and that is a good caveat. Even with that, there is much more he could have included to tutor folks starting out on this hobby/profession. Read this in a library and put it back on the shelf. If you invest in a book, look elsewhere.
