Windows XP and Office 2003 Keyboard Shortcuts
Guy Hart-Davis
In Windows XP and Office 2003, information is given not only about the programs but also technical things such as the keyboard and how to work it. Actually the keyboard is what it mostly talks about because the purpose of this book was to make the working field on a computer more efficient and less time consuming for those who are using computers for most of their day. In sum, in all the eight chapters, the focus is less on a particular program and more focused on how to make that program faster to use by teaching you its shortcuts. Chapter one is called Keyboard Basics- and How to Enhance Your Keyboard. It consists of teaching you how to understand the standard keys, how to use the modifier keys, how to press key combinations, how to configure you keyboard, how to change your basic keyboard settings, how to use keyboard accessibility features, how to use alternative keyboard layouts, how to use remapping utilities to remap, and even more on remapping your keyboard physically. Chapter two as mentioned before then goes on to talking about Windows XP and windows Explorer Keyboard Shortcuts with the whole chapter sub divided into specific sections just like chapter one and the following seven chapters. Chapter three is for Office's Shared Keyboard Shortcuts and Auto Correct. Chapter four is called Word Keyboard Shortcuts, specifically looking into the program Microsoft word. Chapter five then follows to talking about Excel 2003 and its shortcuts on the keyboard. Chapter six is the same except with a concentration on Microsoft Power Point 2003. Chapter seven also the same except it emphasizes on the keyboard shortcuts on Outlook 2003. Overall, the book is helpful for someone who is constantly using a program for Microsoft XP, but if you are looking for a book to tell you about the programs individually with the smallest details and directions on how to do particular things, then there are more suitable books for that. The book Windows XP and Office 2003 is not appropriate for a first-time user of the Microsoft programs and I do not recommend it to anyone if they have not already had lengthy time of experience with each program individually.
