Essential C++

I think this is a terrific book. First time I read it, I had little to no C++ background, and I just couldn't make it work for me. I fell back on the HUGE Lippman Primer (also a terrific book).
After doing the Java developer thing for a while, I got the C++ call again, and this time, this book was *exactly* what I needed to unlearn my Java and relearn my C++. The book is short, to the point, full of useful examples, and it is accurate.
For relearning C++ after a stint with Java, you can find no better book.
