Handbook of Asymmetric Heterogeneous Catalysis
Kuiling Ding, Yasuhiro Uozumi
Asymmetric catalysis is the most efficient and economical way to produce optically active chemicals, and is of great importance for both industrial applications and academic research. However, the practical application of asymmetric catalysis is severely limited by the difficulties in separation and recycling of the expensive chiral catalysts, primarily due to the homogeneous nature of the reaction systems. As one of the most promising way to circumvent these difficulties, immobilization of homogeneous catalysts have received considerable attention in recent years. A variety of heterogenization techniques are developed for immobilization of enantioselective catalysts, which greatly facilitate the efficient recovery and reuse of the expensive chiral catalysts, and potentially allow the development of the corresponding cost-effective industrial processes. In this most up-to-date handbook each chapter contains a general introduction, followed by the principles of the immobilization and, finally, applications. In this way, it covers the most important approaches currently employed for the heterogenization of chiral catalysts, including data tables, applications, reaction types and literature citations. This book is a must-have for chemists in both academia and industry as well as those working in the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industry.
