This book is extremely helpful to the beginning rock guitarist. It has some appropriate finger independence exercises, and is also an amazing tool for learning music theory from a non-classical point of view. If one internalized all of the information (arpeggio shapes, pentatonic scales, diatonic scales and modes, theory, fretboard knowledge, technique information, finger independence, and more) he/she would be considerable better than most rock guitarists out there. The backing tracks included are also great. A word to the wise, going through this book with a teacher would be ideal for those who don't have solid technique. It's very easy for the beginner to develop bad habits without a teacher.
