Supersymmetry (Oxford Graduate Texts)

I bought a used copy of the book (not much used, as it's only been around for 18 months or so) and am extremely satsified with it. If you have to choose between any of the recent textbooks available on this subject (Dine or Terning), I would highly reccomend this one.

Specifically, if you are interested in constructing SUGRA theories from string theory, this is your book. The other books are ok---specifically, Dine's books has some great explanations of things but is very light on the calculation end. I get the feeling that Dine's book is meant as more of a guided tour of Supersymmetry and String Theory. If you are new to the field, then I think it is probably the best place to start.

Terning's book is a bit better when it comes to calculations, but it isn't as broad in scope, I think. It is also more theoretical, which can be a good thing---Terning's chapters on Seiberg Duality are wonderful.

This book, though, offers both. There are some things missing, but for me it is the best balance of theory and phenomenology of the three titles. Plus it is reasonably self-contained in that you can pick it up and learn something from it in 30 minutes or so. Example: The Giudice-Masiero solution to the mu problem. It also contains extensive introductions to the SM and cosmology, both of which are completely absent in Terning's book.

At the end of the day, if you are a grad student in this field (i.e. building models), you should probably own all three. But if you can only buy one, I'd make it this one.
