The first Leopard 2 rolled off the production line in October 1979, following in the great tradition of German ingenuity of design and construction of armoured vehicles. Michael Jerchel and Uwe Schnellbacher discuss the development of the Leopard 2 and the various modifications made to each different batch. Much technical data is given and the driving and firing controls of the vehicle are looked at. Different variants including the Leopard 2 A5 and the driver training tank are also studied. Finally, Dutch and Swiss programmes are examined at length here in this superbly illustrated treatment.
