Terry Therneau's text was the first to cover extensions of the Cox proportional hazards model. In this text O'Quigley develops the methods rigorously. Interesting and novel topics include the introduction of estimating equations and changepoint models. This text is mathematically rigorous and involves the theory of stochastic processes, stochastic integrals and Brownian Motion. It also includes some real applications that are well illustrated.
