The book is well suited for those with basic PHP and HTML knowledge. If you know the basics and understand the concepts the you will find this book an enjoyable read that goes to great lengths to get up and running. It does a great job of covering the different aspects of the CodeIgniter framework and how things work. This is not an "Advanced" book and if you are already knowledgeable of the framework then this book isn't for you. It is definitely target to the person getting started.
I really enjoyed the chapter on third party code. It was cool to see the authors take a moment to show some of the great aspects of this framework and how easy it is to integrate other projects into your applications.
Overall, I really like this book. You can tell the authors enjoy the framework and are excited by it. That excitement can be felt in reading the book and is pretty infectious. If you are getting started in web design, or are experienced but new to the CI framework, then this book is for you.
