This has to be one of the best examples of that old adage that I have ever seen. And it did prevent me from buying the book for a long time. It was only after having a chance to read the book in real life that I went here and purchased it. As an owner of almost every reputable knife book on amazon, I have to say this book is among some of the better ones as far as instruction goes. It's almost like a less wordy version of Richard Ryan's book. Maybe somewhere in the range of Michael Janich's book. Though those books are better on tactics in application. This book - Brazilian knife fightin' - is superior to those as far as fundamentals and illustrations go.



It has some of the best illustrations I've seen in a knife book. Some might consider that to be filler material, but I don't think that's the case. What needs to be said is being said and illustrations for clarity is no drawback at all. Many times text simply does not do when explaining things, and I've been annoyed with books that failed to show exactly what they were attempting to explain. Now, I doubt there is such a thing as a Brazilian knife fighting system. As another reviewer said, this book makes for an excellent introduction text to Filipino knife fighting. So in short, this is a good book hidden in a ridiculous cover. I don't write many reviews but this one seemed necessary to do.
