Totten and McKenzie (both work for private corporations in the US and have lengthy publishing records) have edited a massive volume that contains 24 chapters on the physical metallurgy and processing of aluminum and its alloys to be used as a reference for engineers and designers. Written by an international group of specialists who work both in academic and industrial settings, the chapters treat basic theory and provide detailed descriptions of applications and new technologies. Among the topics are sources and measurement of residual stress and distortion, an overview of aluminum rolling, extrusion design, aluminum welding metallurgy, forging design and foundry practice, sheet forming, superplastic forming, and powder metallurgy.
