Volume 1 of Bold Ventures illuminates patterns among eight prominent U.S. innovations: California's science education reform, ChemCom, Contemporary Precalculus, Kids Network, Project 2061, NCTM Standards, Urban Mathematics Collaboratives, and Voyage of the Mimi. Patterns included changing conceptions of school science and mathematics, new strategies for effecting reform, greater emphasis on teachers as designers and objects of change, and underplayed attention to equity issues and project evaluation.
