Focusing on the commercial potential of the wireless mesh network, defined as "a series of peer-to-peer transmissions where each mode functions as a router and repeater," this work explains the basic conceptual underpinning of the technology and its advantages over existing technologies and applications. The author also explores how networking protocols associated with wireless mesh networking would operate in home, office, government agency, and higher education environments, addressing potential and actual problems associated with the scale of the network, security, radio frequency interference, and other issues where they arise.
