The quantum Hall effect (Jerusalem 2002 winter school)

This review article focuses on some recent developments in the theory of the quantum Hall effect. While it covers diverse topics and somewhat different approaches, it has a major theme: there exists a unitary transformation that relates the properties of the two dimensional electron gas to the properties of a two dimensional Bose gas interacting with a fluctuating "statistical" gauge field.
